How do some local climate initiatives achieve remarkable impact?
New local climate action research
Carbon Copy commissioned sustainability consultancy Eunomia to conduct UK-wide research and find out what makes some place-based climate and nature projects so successful.
The results were released in March 2026. What makes the research findings so exciting is their relevance to so many people and different organisations. High-impact collective action appears possible within the resources of a wide range of local communities and the success factors can be readily copied.dddd
Sweeping climate report
The report’s findings are based on both desk research and wide-ranging interviews with highly successful projects across the UK to give a 360-degree perspective across diverse case studies, combined with thematic analysis and synthesis of meta-data in order to make robust recommendations.
Titled ‘From Footprint to Changeprint’, the report provides a framework and identifies the core characteristics and key success factors for high-impact local climate action, as well as offering top tips for practitioners in a way that achieves real results.
High-impact action guide
Of course, funding is a crucial element in implementing any ambitious local initiative. The intent of this research, however, was to look beyond funding to understand the role of collaboration and other factors that can also drive high impact.
The information and insights are useful to all kinds of change makers, from project owners and community leaders to decision makers in organisations across public, private and third sectors who want to create a bigger Changeprint.
